Mission

The mission of the  Southern Bronx River Watershed Alliance (SBRWA) is to advocate for socially and environmentally just transportation and land use planning in the South Bronx. Our focus is on transforming the transportation network in the Sheridan Expressway corridor and Hunts Point, and promote redevelopment opportunities for affordable housing, economic development, and open spaces.

Goals

Through community-based planning, SBRWA’s goal is to transform the Sheridan Expressway into a vibrant corridor by:

  1. Reducing truck traffic on local streets,
  2. Creating waterfront and park access, and increasing green space,
  3. Promoting equitable economic development, and
  4. Creating community amenities, including deeply affordable housing, through non-profit stewardship.
